Remembrance
Lesson: British Values
Class: Y3/4 - Miss Harwood Year: 2021 - 2022
Today, in KS2, we were very fortunate to have two visitors from the British Army who came to talk to us about the significance and importance of Remembrance. Captain (Rtd) Royston Smith-Straney (MBE) spoke to us about why we have a remembrance festival and about how remembrance is particularly important to him.
Sgt Sarah O'Connor taught us about a very special nurse, Edith Cavell, and how she treated both British and enemy soldiers during WW1. Edith believed that she should show kindness to everyone, not just those fighting for Britain. Well done to Ethan N who already knew who Edith was and the job she did!
Thank you very much to our visitors for giving up their time to come and talk to us today.
The Festival of Remembrance will take place this weekend at the Royal Albert Hall and will be broadcast on television. There will also be a service of remembrance at the Liverpool Cathedral, followed by a parade on Hope Street.
We Shall Not Forget.
