Y3/4 - Miss Harwood 2024 - 2025

Miss Harwood

Mrs Collins

Welcome

Hello, my name is Miss Harwood and I teach in Year 3/4 with the support of Mrs Clare. I joined Northway back in 2021 and have taught across KS1 and KS2 both here and in two other Sefton schools for many years. This will be the second time that I have taught many of the Year 3/4 class and I am super excited to work with your enthusiastic, inquisitive children again this year! I’m responsible for leading RE at our school and meet our RE Champions who promote and raise the profile of RE across the school.

We share lots of our fun learning on the school twitter account each week. Please make sure you follow us on: @northwaymaghull

Food and drink

Every child should have a water bottle that they can access at any time during the day. This bottle should be in addition to a lunch time drink, if they are on packed lunches.

Your child may bring a nut free healthy snack for morning play. Please ensure that the snack is in their book bag so that they do not have to find it in their lunch bags.

Healthy snack

  • Fruit
  • Bread or toast.

We have children with anaphylaxis, a life-threatening condition that is caused by a severe allergic reaction to nuts. We ask you to help us protect these children by sending snacks for your child that do not contain nuts. Thank you for your cooperation with this; it is very much appreciated by the families of the children.

Year 3/4 PE

PE lessons will usually take place on a Thursday but please make sure your PE kit is in school at the beginning of every half term and stays in school. ALL pieces of clothing, including school uniform and shoes MUST be named. Earrings must be removed for the lesson or covered by plasters provided from home.

Spellings

This half-term your child will not be bringing a spelling list home to learn. We will continue to work on the Year 3 and 4 common exception words in class but they will not be tested on them weekly. A copy of these ican be found on their class page of the website.  Please encourage your child to complete some weekly spelling practise by accessing Doodle Spell.

 Reading

Please read with your child, regardless of their ability, at least three times per week and sign their home-reading record.

To quiz on a school reading book, use our school’s AR site:

https://Ukhosted110.renlearn.co.uk/2243135

Children can also check if a book they have read from home has a quiz attached to it using the following website:

Water bottles

Please bring a clear, named reusable water bottle to school everyday, it should have a sports cap type lid.
