Maya archaeologist visit
Lesson: History
Class: Y5/6 - Mrs Reardon Year: 2016 - 2017
On Thursday we were really excited to have a visit from Dr Diane Davis, the only ancient Maya expert in the UK! She told us all about her life as an archaeologist and what it is like to live in the rainforest (including some of the fascinating animals that live there like jaguars, snakes and spiders!)
She also told us lots about the ancient Maya and why they were such an advanced civilization. We learnt about their writing and number systems as well as their love of astronomy and that they invented hot chocolate! We also got to handle Maya artefacts!
