Inverted Commas for Speech

In Y3/4, we have been practising using inverted commas for speech. We imagined a conversation between Hogarth and the Iron Man from our class novel, 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes.

We had lots of fun writing on the tables and using macaroni to punctuate the spoken words in our sentences. We have been experimenting with putting the reporting clause at the beginning of the sentence, as well as splitting the speech by putting the reporting clause in the middle! We have had lots of fun and then wrote our work up in our English books.
