Investigating Lego In Year 1/2

Lesson: Science

Class: Y1/2 - Mr Wright Year: 2018 - 2019

We are absolutely loving learning about materials in our Science lessons. In our lesson this week, we read some information about Lego and discussed how, this half-term, we will be asking and answering questions using our scientific knowledge and our investigative skills. The focus in this lesson was to answer the following question about Lego:

Why do you think this material was used rather than another?

We discussed the properties of plastic and how we might investigate if Lego has all of these properties. We then worked in groups to test the properties of Lego, with pupils using their own methods to investigate. As you can see from the photographs, children investigated how it is waterproof, how it cannot be bent or snapped, how it does not break when dropped, how it is light but strong and how smooth it is to touch.
