Growth Mindset In Year 2

Lesson: Personal, Social and Emotional Education

Class: Y1/2 - Mr Wright Year: 2021 - 2022

As part of our work for British Science and Health Week, we learnt all about how our brain works and what is a growth mindset. We spent the afternoon learning about how powerful our brain is and how we can train it to think positively. Sometimes, our brain thinks about what we can do in a positive way but, other times, our brain thinks about things in a negative way and we tell ourselves that we can’t do things. We watched the following video to help us understand the importance of having a growth mindset rather than a fixed mindset:

We then completed a series of difficult challenges which we all found very hard. Not getting things right can be frustrating at times so we discussed how to manage these feelings so that we do not become upset and negative. We remembered to stay calm and relaxed even when things were not going as we would have liked!

It isn't that we can't do things, it's just that we can't do them... YET!
