Children's University Graduation Ceremony 2018

A huge well done to all of the pupils in Year 2 and Year 6 who graduated from Sefton Children's University during a special graduation ceremony at Edge Hill University.

This is the first year in which Northway has been part of the Children's University and everyone was very excited to attend our first graduation ceremony. The programme is designed to recognise and reward children's voluntary participation in learning activities and experiences outside the normal school curriculum and all of the pupils who graduated had amassed a sufficient number of credits needed in order to graduate. These credits can be awarded to pupils for attending extracurricular activities at Northway or by attending activities that are registered as part of Sefton Children's University. At the end of each Key Stage, the total number of credits the pupils have acquired are added up and those children in Year 2 and Year 6 who have gained the number of credits required are invited to graduate.

During the special ceremony, each of the pupils were presented with their certificates by the guests of honour who were Lewis Parry, the Development Coordinator at Active Sefton, and Jane McCubbin from BBC Breakfast. It was a fantastic day and one that will live long in the memory for the staff, the children and their families. To celebrate their brilliant achievement, the pupils were even asked to throw their mortarboards in the air at the end of the ceremony!
