Outdoor Learning Day

Lesson: PSHE and citizenship

Class: Y3/4 - Mrs Collins Year: 2020 - 2021

Thursday 5th November was National Outdoor Classroom Day and during this week Northway took part in directed class activities outside in our wonderful school grounds.

Now more than ever in this current climate, spending quality time outside is as important for children’s development as learning to develop their reading and writing skills inside.

Learning outside of the classroom engages and excites children in spectacular ways!

Outdoor play, no matter what age your child is, and connecting to nature is key to improving children’s health, wellbeing and happiness.

If you would like to take part at home, please take a look at the ideas on the website below. You don’t need a password and it is free!

In Year 3 we looked at miniature Zen gardens used for peaceful meditation and calming mindfullness. We went outdoors to look for different items and elements that we could add to our Zen gardens before assembling and using them inside.
