REMOTE LEARNING

We understand that the current government guidelines regarding pupil self-isolation and class bubble closures is a worry for parents, in particular regarding how your child will continue to learn during these periods of absence from school.  We would like to reassure parents that your child’s learning will continue during any isolation or closure period.

What happens when a bubble closes?

If your child's class bubble closes and your child needs to self-isolate, you will receive an email from school informing you. This email will contain important information about the dates of the isolation period and specific information about the remote learning your child will be given, along with a recomended daily learning timetable.

The work for the isolation period will be displayed on your child's class page, along with teaching videos, web-links and work to complete. You will also receive a timetable recommending time expectations for your child to complete each day. Each day, there will also be a pupil feedback task, which your child will need to complete and email back to their class teacher for feedback. By displaying the work for the week, alongside a recommended timetable, we hope that your family is able to organise your time flexibly - especially if you have children needing to share a device or work from home.

In addition, there will be zoom class check-ins organised to support your child's well-being. Northway staff will always be available at the end of the phone or email to support you and your child. Please contact us via your child's class email address or the school office.

At the end of the isolation, your child will be expected to bring their work back to school, when the bubble returns, for their class teacher to see.

Your child will need access to a tablet, laptop or computer to complete some of their remote learning. If you have a problem obtaining a suitable device for your child to use during the closure, please contact your child's class teacher or the school office.

Paper copies of worksheets are available upon request.

If your child is in receipt of benefits-related free school meals, you are also eligible for a food parcel for the days your child is isolating.

What happens if my child has to self-isolate because Test & Trace has told them to?

Please contact the school office immediately to inform us of your situation and the dates of your isolation period. Following this, your child's class teacher will organise a work pack for your child. Within this work pack, you will receive a recommended timetable for your child to follow. This will be available for collection on the next working day. If you are unable to collect the work pack as your family are all isolating, please let the office know and they will arrange to send the work in the post.

Your child's class teacher will speak with your child during the isolation period to check on their wellbeing. If you have any concerns or questions during the isolation, please contact your child's class teacher via the year group emails.

At the end of the isolation, your child will be expected to bring their work back to school for their class teacher to see.

Your child will need access to a tablet, laptop or computer to complete some of their remote learning. If you have a concern with this, please contact the school office.
