Y5 - Mrs Farrington 2019 - 2020

Mrs Farrington

Welcome

My name is Mrs. Farrington and I teach Y5. I have been teaching at Northway since 1991.  It is such a happy, family atmosphere here that once people come they usually stay! Previously I taught in Dudley in the West Midlands. I am originally from Redcar in North Yorkshire and I have always wanted to teach.

Home Learning, Week beginning: Monday 13th July

English:

Reading Comprehension: Stone Age Tools and Eid al-Fitr

  • Remember, read the text first and text mark as you go (a few words to remind you what each paragraph is about and underline any words which you are unsure about).
  • When you read the questions, underline the key words and then scan for them in the text to find the answer (your text marking will help you locate the part you need rather then re-reading the whole text every time).
  • For longer questions, make sure you make your point clearly and back it up with evidence from the text.
  • After you have written your answer, make sure you read the question and answer together to ensure it matches.
  • Don’t forget to copy accurately from the text!

Spellings:  cial and tial. Also please keep learning and revising all the Y5 Orange Words. These are attached below.

SPAG: Revision using MAT 5. The definitions document is below to help you.

Writing:  This week, please write a set of instructions telling people how to do something. It could be for a game or a recipe. If you have already had some feedback on a piece of writing, please try to build on it in your next piece.

Maths:

This week we will be converting between metric and imperial measures and reading information from timetables.

The lesson sheets are attached in the ‘Documents for Download’ section below but please see the website for videos that accompany each lesson.
