Y4 - Mr Seery 2019 - 2020

Mr Seery

My name is Mr. Seery and I teach Year 4 along with the support of Mrs Lloyd. I trained at Edge Hill University and I have been teaching since 2014! I am very much looking forward to getting involved in the community of Northway Community Primary School as I have had such an amazing impression so far!

I have a musical and theatrical background and I am hoping to contribute towards the school's music concerts and theatre productions throughout the year.

Daily Home Learning Plan

So, it looks like school might be closed for a little while but we don’t want you to stop learning! It is really important that you carry on practising your basic skills and keep your creative juices flowing!

Below is a list of ideas for things you can do when you should be in school. We will update our class page by 9:30am every Monday with some new ideas to keep you ticking over.

Don’t forget to use your online learning log ins to keep your skills going. The links for some websites are below:

Times Tables Rockstars https://play.ttrockstars.com/

Top Marks Maths Games https://www.topmarks.co.uk/

Daily 10: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/daily10

Try logging into https://play.numbots.com/#/intro using your TTRockstars username and password. It is a new game to help you practise number bonds and improve your understanding of place value. It starts off very easy but it is important you work through each question so you can move onto challenges. You can earn rewards in a similar way to TTRockstars.

Some children may have log ins for these accounts:

Music Chill time: Listen to songs by Texas and use the power point to learn about them and their work.

Science: What are the 3 different types of rock? Make a poster explaining the difference between them and how each is formed.

History/Geography: Use the attached map to complete the grid reference challenge!

Mindfulness challenge: https://www.headspace.com/meditation/kids Use the Headspace app and practise some meditations.

Information for this week:

Calling all Poets!

Young budding poets across the Liverpool City Region are being asked to get creative and tell us what they are currently missing through the art of poetry!

Aintree Racecourse has teamed up with Sefton’s Borough of Culture year to launch the Grand Poetry Competition with some fantastic prizes on offer for the winners.

Click on the file 'Grand Poetry Competition' for more information.

This week, your Maths learning involves practising everything you have learned about multiplication and division this year, using the adventure challenges that we have attached. You don’t need to complete these in one go (in fact, please don’t, spread them over a few days!).

We would also like you to complete three Garage games and one Sound Check each day on TTR and this has been set for you. Once you have completed these, feel free to complete further activities and games! Why not send a Rock Slam to a friend? You also have a weekly task sheet to complete, which is useful for revising all of your Maths learning for the year.

Read the 'TTRS Rock Slams and Battle Of The Bands' document in the 'Files To Download' section and have a go at these new challenges. The winning classes from last week were Mr Wright’s class, Mrs Phillips’ class, Mrs Farrington’s class and Mr Tomkinson’s class. Congratulations to them! This week’s brand new battle will start on Monday 6th April at 9:30am and will finish on Sunday 12th April at 6:00pm. The fixtures for this week are:

1.     Mrs Catlin (Y2) vs Mrs Shimmin/ Mrs O’Connor (Y3)

2.    Mr Wright (Y2) vs Mrs Phillips (Y3/4)

3.    Mr Seery (Y4) vs Miss Stupples (Y6)

4.    Mrs Farrington (Y5) vs Mr Tomkinson (Y5/6)
